Act 2: From Finances to Fashion

MEDINA, N.Y. - For Laura Gardner a better quality of life meant giving up a longtime career as an accountant for the world of fashion.

"I don't think I'm going to make a million dollars, but it was also about lifestyle and being here in my community, closer to my family, being able to contribute in some way to what happens," said Gardner.

She opened "A Lily and a Sparrow" a few weeks ago on Main Street in downtown Medina.  Her new business venture gave her the chance to give up long, daily commutes to Buffalo in exchange for an opportunity to become more active in her hometown.

She's hoping her career change will not only inspire others to follow their dreams but stay local and shop local.
