Hello Yesterday! An 80's Festival

Celebrate all the best of the 80's at Hello Yesterday! An all-ages, all-day 80's Festival featuring A Flock of Seagulls, When In Rome, Animotion, Dramarama and Gene Loves Jezebel.  The festival includes a LipSync contest, 80's Guitar Hero and much more!

Dress totally 80's for the best 80's costume contest and win a new iPad!   Tickets are available for purchase online at helloyesterday.net or at both Record Theatre outlets in Buffalo (1800 & 3500 Main Street).

General Admission on-line tickets are $35 (plus applicable fees). Tickets the day of the event are $45.  Children 13 and under are free.

Portions of the proceeds will benefit Hunter's Hope. Festival attendees will have an opportunity to contribute to the community and help Hunter's Hope by participating in the silent auction. The tent will be open all day with two auctions going on during the festival.

Catholic School Teachers Go Back to School

With the start of the new school year less than two weeks away, Catholic elementary school teachers are not only busy preparing their classrooms, they are engaged in professional development as well.

During the week of August 17, the diocesan Department of Catholic Schools hosted a number of workshops, ranging from brain-based learning to using learning centers in the classroom.

The sessions included:  Brain Based Learning: Procedures and strategies to address all learners; Using Learning Centers in the Primary Classroom; a Practical Guide to Design and Manage Learning Centers.

Great Fun at Orleans Community Days

Great weather and good community spirit was all it took to make the first ever Orleans Community Day a success. The event took place on the grounds of the Medina Hospital this past Saturday, August 14th, and included live music by local band "Then and Now", Chicken BBQ, pony rides, bounce house, petting zoo, Amish baked goods/ice cream, solar ice cream truck, Mercy Flight, local fireman demos, vendors and so much more!

Man Charged in Fire that Killed His Mother

ALBION, NY-An Albion man has been charged in connection with a house fire last year that killed his mother.

Troy Christ, 41, was arrested by Sheriff's deputies Monday after his indictment earlier this month by an Orleans County Grand Jury.

Christ is accused of setting the April 2009 fire at his mother's Ridge Road home in the Town of Gaines. While fighting the blaze, firemen found the body of Marian Klopp, 73. The elderly woman lived alone.

Christ was arraigned on charges of arson and insurance fraud. He is currently free on bail.
