GAINES, NY - POSSESSION: Craig A. Davis, 20, 12 Westfield Dr., Medina was charged Sunday with unlawful possession of marijuana. Deputy Jim Defilipps charged Davis as a result of vehicle stop on Ridge Road in the Town of Gaines. Davis was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana, a smoking pipe and a grinder. Davis is scheduled to appear Wednesday in Gaines Town Court.

LYNDONVILLE, NY - HARASSMENT: Christopher J. Hemann, 48, 12229 Lakeshore Road, Lyndonville was charged Saturday with second-degree harassment. Deputy Tom Marano charged Hemann as a result of a domestic dispute where he allegedly pushed and spat at the victim.

HOLLY, NY - CHARGED: Evan J. Shaffer, 17, 14790 Holley Road, Holley was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief Sept. 28. Deputy Tom Marano charged Shaffer as a result of a domestic dispute where he allegedly scratched letters into the victim’s vehicle. Shaffer is scheduled to appear in Albion Town Court on Oct. 20.

MURRAY, NY - MARIJUANA: Evan J. Jordain, 18, 4655 Oak Orchard Road, Albion was charged Friday with unlawful possession of marijuana. Deputy Jim Defilipps charged Jordain while checking on a disabled vehicle in the area of Lynch Road and Rt. 31. He was found to be in possession of a smoking pipe and marijuana. Jordain is scheduled to appear in Murray Town Court on Oct. 18.

KENDALL, NY - A Monroe County man was jailed Monday after driving his pickup into Lake Ontario, Orleans County sheriff’s deputies said. Andrew J. Ellsworth, 22, of Hilton was driving about 7 p.m. on Norway Road. Deputies said he drove over an embankment at the dead end of the road and landed in the lake. Ellsworth was charged with DWI, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or more, operation in violation of a conditional license, aggravated unlicensed operation, and failure to obey a traffic control device. He was committed to Orleans County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail. Ellsworth was the vehicle’s sole occupant. No injuries were reported.

SHELBY, NY - Casey J. Hale, 18, of 313 Park Ave., Medina was charged with driving while impaired by drugs after he crashed his car on Maple Ridge Road Saturday, Orleans County sheriff’s deputies said. He allegedly had been drinking alcohol, smoking marijuana and “huffing” dust remover, deputies said. He is to appear Oct. 14 in Town Court.

WATERPORT, NY - Richard S. Hollis, 40, of 13474 Waterport-Carlton Rd. was charged with harassment and menacing after he allegedly punched a person in the face and then displayed a knife during a domestic incident at his house Sept. 25, Orleans County sheriff’s deputies said. He is to appear at a later date in Town Court.

ALBION, NY — Crystal L. Rex, 35, of 15015 East Lee Rd. was charged with welfare fraud after an investigation by Orleans County Social Services Welfare Fraud Unit. Rex was charged with fourth-degree welfare fraud, fourth-degree grand larceny and petit larceny after she allegedly received $1,062 in food stamps and $506 in other benefits. She is to appear at a later date in Town Court.

MURRAY, NY — A Hamlin woman was charged with DWI after she crashed her car into a utility pole, parked car and house early Wednesday morning, Orleans County sheriff’s deputies said. Melissa Siple, 19, was driving east on Ridge Road about 3:30 a.m. when she lost control of her 1999 Pontiac and hit a mound of dirt, sending the car airborne, Sheriff Scott Hess said. The car sheared off a utility pole, hit a parked car and then flipped against a house at 16899 Ridge Rd. Two bicycles and a second parked car also were damaged in the crash. SIple was trapped in her car and had to be freed by Holley firefighters. She was taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with minor injuries. She was charged with DWI, failure to keep right and will face additional charges once blood test results are complete, Hess said. Deputy J.A. DeFilips and N.P. Lorenz investigated.
