Rochester Woman Indicted for Stealing money from Unity Health System

U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announces that a federal grand jury in Rochester has returned a two-count indictment charging Barbara Tripi, 62, of Lyndhurst, Ohio, with interstate transportation of money taken by fraud and theft in connection with health care benefit program. The charges carry a maximum p[enalty of 20 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.

Rochester, NY male Pleads Guilty to Defrauding Elderly

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announces that Ricky Miller, Sr., 55, of Rochester, N.Y., pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud in a telemarketing scheme before U.S. District Judge David G. Larimer. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both.

 ROCHESTER, N.Y.– U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announced today that Alfredo Valentin, Jr., a/k/a Alfredo Valentine, a/k/a Fred Valentin, a/k/a Fred Vegas, 44, of Penfield, N.Y., who was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribution of one kilogram or more of heroin, was sentenced to 20 years in prison and 10 years supervised release by U.S. District Judge David G. Larimer. Valentin was also ordered to forfeit $74,690 in U.S.

Three Time Violent Felon ATF. Rochester Police, sentenced 15 Years

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr., announced today that Davon Washington, 30, of Rochester, N.Y., who was convicted of possessing an illegal firearm after having been previously convicted of three prior violent felonies, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge David G. Larimer to 15 years in prison. Judge Larimer, who found that Washington was an Armed Career Offender under federal law, also placed Washington on five years of post-release supervision.

Western New York to Join the Million March Against Child Abuse

 

For the first time in American history on April 22, 2013, people in 200 cities and 45 states will join and will walk together in solidarity to raise awareness of child abuse and crimes against children at the inaugural Million March Against Child Abuse. Buffalo will be one of the participating cities.  Child advocate groups, churches, parents, teachers and many other concerned citizens from across Western New York (WNY) will take part in this national event and will converge on Lafayette Square in Downtown Buffalo and March to Niagara Square loudly voicing their collective outrage against child abuse along their route.

ROCHESTER, NY—U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. announces  Gary Shapoff, age 62, of Boynton Beach, Florida, who was convicted of money laundering and making a false tax return, was sentenced to 60 months in prison and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $2,228,605.84 by U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa.

Police Catch Yellow Goose Thief

ALBION, NY - Albion Police have arrested a man suspected of holding up the Yellow Goose convenience store at 202 Norrth Main Street on January 23rd. Police followed tracks left in the snow to a nearby residence where they found Orlando Hernandez, 19, hiding in a closet.

Hernandez was charged with robbery in the third degree, menacing in the third degree and petit larceny.
