The Crosspatch Chuckwagon Supper & Stage Show

The Crosspatch Chuckwagon Supper & Stage Show

Early in the 1800's cowboys rode the western range on cattle drives. Every long, hard day in the saddle was followed by an evening of tall tales and music at the chuckwagon.

Today, in the Enchanted Mountains, the Crosspatch brings you the spirit of the old West. In the evening we serve a rib stickin' old style western meal. You don't have to go on a cattle drive to feel the spirit of the cowboy.

Come experience a bit of real western hospitality on a working horse ranch, with an evening of family entertainment you'll never forget, at the Crosspatch in Little Valley.

We'll be serving steak or chicken, salt potatoes, sourdough biscuits, Wild West beans, campfire dessert and more. Come early and visit with the folks here at our Mercantile and whet your whistle at the watering hole. After supper there will be a live stage show by award winning band. Reservations required.

Barbecue Season is Upon Us! Remember to Play it Safe at the Grill

Barbecue Season is Upon Us! Remember to Play it Safe at the Grill

Lifesaving Tips from the Firemen’s Association of the State of NY…

With Memorial Day weekend right around the corner, many people will be hosting backyard barbecues. The Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) is reminding residents to follow important fire safety tips so that they can enjoy a safe summer season.

“The outdoor cookout season will soon be in full swing.  Unfortunately, a barbecue grill could start a fire if certain safety rules are ignored,” said Firemen’s Association of the State of New York President David Jacobowitz.  “It’s important to position the grill far away from siding, deck railings, trees and other flammables. When gatherings involve children, it’s critical that a child-free zone of at least three feet is established around the grill.”

Exploring Along the Banks of the Erie Canal

Exploring Along the Banks of the Erie Canal

Like the appearance of crocus blooms or the arrival of Canada Geese, the opening of the Erie Canal is a sure sign of spring in towns and villages along the waterway.  As the Old Erie comes to life, so too do the communities along its banks after a sleepy, cold winter.

The Erie Canal from Rochester west to Tonawanda is expected to open for navigation on the Sunday, May 1.  Boaters (and cyclists!) routinely refer to the Western Corridor as the most scenic section of the canal.  However, the peaceful, scenic beauty of the Erie Canal is not reserved solely for the boater.

Winding their way along the historic channel route are scenic highways and byways that reveal a treasure-trove of history in the communities that owe their very existence to the the canal. There is much to see, do, and experience by way of driving along the venerable old waterway.
