Reggie McKenzie to Visit Sports Card & Memorabilia Expo on September 18

The next WNY Sports Card & Memorabilia Expo, the area’s largest biannual sports card and memorabilia show featuring over 100 tables of merchandise, will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at the Grapevine Banquet Hall, 333 Dick Road, Depew.

Former Buffalo Bills star guard Reggie McKenzie will be on hand to sign autographs at the event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. McKenzie was a key member of the “Electric Company,” leading the way for O.J. Simpson to become the NFL’s first 2,000-yard rusher during the 1973 season. The cost is $20 per autograph. 

Vendor tables will feature new and vintage sports cards, non-sports cards, packs, autographs, game programs, yearbooks, pennants, videos, vintage photos and much more. The event will feature local and out-of-state vendors, as well as dealers who are new to this show.

Rural Outreach Center to Present ‘Roctober’ Event at Elm Street Bakery

The Rural Outreach Center (ROC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting rural poverty, will host a fun-filled “Roctober” event from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at Elm Street Bakery, 72 Elm St., East Aurora.

The event will feature Elm Street Bakery food, wine and beer, one-of-a-kind silent auction items and music by Doug Yeomans. Tickets to this special event are limited and are available for a $50 donation to the ROC. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Elm Street Bakery, and proceeds will be used to support programs and social work for the underserved and impoverished, helping all to become self-sufficient.

Busy Month Ushers in Autumn Season at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village

Four events during the month of September will welcome the new season at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst.

The calendar kicks off with a Civil War Symposium from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. This year’s event will highlight the 100th New York Infantry Regimen and will honor the soldiers, families and descendants from this Western New York regiment. Guests will enjoy artifacts and informational displays in the Shaw Exhibit Building as well as a guest speaker! The cost is $8 for adults, $6 for military personnel and seniors, and $4 for children under 12. Children 3 and under are admitted free.

Canalside to Host Second Annual Auto & Boat Show

The second annual Canalside Auto & Boat Show, featuring more than 250 new cars, trucks, RVs, sailboats, powerboats and personal watercraft, will take place Aug. 5-7 at Canalside in downtown Buffalo. Sponsored by Canalside, the Niagara Frontier Automobile Dealers Association and Anchor Marine, the event is free and open to the public.

Event hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. Food and drink offerings, and entertainment, will also be featured throughout the weekend show.

Justin Bailey to Sign Autographs at Bases Loaded Sports Collectibles

Buffalo Sabres right wing and Williamsville native Justin Bailey will visit Bases Loaded Sports Collectibles from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, for an autograph-signing event. Bases Loaded is located at 794 French Road in Cheektowaga.

Bailey was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Last year he played in eight games with the Sabres and 70 games with the Rochester Americans, where he produced 20 goals and 25 assists.

Autographs will be free with the purchase of a photo, puck or other hockey item from Bases Loaded.

Audubon Nature Center Days at Panama Rocks August 6 and 7

Jamestown, NY – Two of the region’s premier nature showcases are joining forces to present two days of delightful outdoor fun and learning.

On Saturday and Sunday, August 6 and 7, volunteers and staff of the Audubon Nature Center will offer special opportunities at Panama Rocks, the beautiful natural playground in Panama, New York.

Visitors will be able to explore the scenic half-mile long ridge of 60-foot high rocks that form crevices, passageways, and caves hidden in an ancient forest.

Retired Jamestown Community College professors Tom Erlandson and Dan Anderson will be stationed along the trails to teach you about the rocks and trees. Visitors can also explore displays and artifacts from the Nature Center and possibly meet one or more of the Nature Center’s live animal ambassadors.
