Drums Along the Waterfront (DATW) is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with the Seneca Nation of Indians (SNI) - Cattaraugus Community Center (CCC) for the Drums Along the Waterfront Tour of Champions event taking place at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park.

Local High Schools to Host Visiting Drums Along the Waterfront Drum Corps

Drums Along the Waterfront Tour of Champions is once again excited to bring the top seven drum corps in the world to Western New York. The event will be held from 7 to 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, and all of the corps will be staying at local high schools as they prepare for the big event.

“Upon their arrival in Western New York, the members of the drum corps will try to catch up on their sleep — on the gym floors — and then get up and rehearse all day,” said Drums Along the Waterfront Director Jack Gaylord Jr. “Corps are known to practice for up to 10 hours a day in preparation for a big show like the one coming here.”

Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village Readies for Scottish Festival, Antique Radio Swap Meet

An Antique Radio Swap Meet and the highly anticipated Buffalo Niagara Scottish Festival featuring the 2016 Masters World Championship Highland Games highlight the August calendar at Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village, 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst.

The Niagara Frontier Wireless Association will hold its annual Antique Radio Swap Meet from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 6. Radios dating from the 1920s through the 1960s will be offered for sale along with a wide selection of vintage electronics, tube amps, phonographs, speakers, advertising and assorted parts. The Swap Meet will be held outdoors in the main parking lot, and admission to the event is free. Admission to Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village is additional and available during open business hours from noon to 4:30 p.m.

Drums Along the Waterfront Tour of Champions to Invade Ralph Wilson Stadium

The annual Drums Along the Waterfront - Tour of Champions, Western New York’s premier “music in motion” event featuring seven of the top drum corps in the world, returns to Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7.

Sanctioned by Drum Corps International (DCI), Drums Along the Waterfront - Tour of Champions will feature the reigning and 17-time world champion Blue Devils (Concord, CA), along with the Bluecoats (Canton, OH), The Cadets (Allentown, PA), Carolina Crown (Fort Mill, SC), The Cavaliers (Rosemont, IL), Phantom Regiment (Rockford, IL) and Boston Crusaders (Boston, MA). The lineup has 38 DCI titles among them!

The popular Elmwood Village Farmers Market, featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, continues on Saturday, July 2. Hours at the open-air market, a program of the Elmwood Village Association, are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine, through November. 

Two very popular programs — “Double Up Food Bucks” and “Just Say Yes to Fruits and Vegetables” — return to the market this Saturday!

Rural Outreach Center, Veterans One-stop Center Offering Services for Veterans

A wide variety of helpful services for U.S. military veterans and their spouses are now being offered by the Rural Outreach Center (ROC), located at 730 Olean Road, East Aurora. The outreach program is administered by the Veterans One-stop Center of Western New York.

“The Veterans One-stop professionals are exceptional at navigating a complex system and assisting our veterans and their families,” said Frank Cerny, board chairman of the ROC. “We are pleased to extend their outreach into the rural areas of Western New York through the ROC.”
