Help Pets Cope with Stress and Anxiety

(Welcome to our pet column, courtesy of Pet Connection Programs Inc. of Marilla. We post a new article each week, so be sure to check back on a regular basis!)

When pets behave badly, it’s hard to remember how lovable they can be.

Get a handle on barking, begging, jumping, scratching, digging and marking with a good attitude and the right tools.

Keep Pets Happy

Adopt A Pet: Daphne

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Suzanne Laba from the Buffalo Animal Shelter once again stopped by the Daybreak Saturday studios with Daphne, a wonderful dog currently living in a foster home.

Daphne is a very friendly dog and was jumping on our newsroom desks before the show! She has been living with her foster mother since this past April.

She is about 18 months old and is housebroken and friendly to everyone she meets.

If you're interested in adopting Daphne, you can email her foster mother here.

Adopt a Pet: Little Miss Sally

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Suzanne Laba of the Buffalo Animal Shelter stopped by the Daybreak Saturday studios to show off Sally, an energetic and fully grown dog.

Sally will likely be bouncing around in her kennel when you bring her home, however she is a wonderfully sweet dog who walks well on a leash. She is about fully grown as of now, but may fill out a little bit with good food from a good home.

Many people may be unwilling to adopt a pet from the animal shelter, however that doesn't mean you still can't help. Right now the Buffalo Animal Shelter is looking to install a stereo system throughout the building. The idea is to play certain types of music to help relieve some of the dog's stress and anxiety.

2 Your Pet: Teressa

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Buffalo Animal Shelter does a wonderful job of helping animals that have nowhere else to go. However, sometimes other organizations step in to help out.

That's the case this week with Teressa. This Staffordshire Terrier is being taken care of by the "Black Dog Second Chance" organization. This organization takes dogs off the hands of the shelter and places them into foster homes while they await adoption.

Teressa is 2 years old and has a zest for life! She loves being with people and is great with kids. She enjoys playing with other dogs and will always be there for you.

If you are interested in adopting Teressa, you can send an email to her foster mom here.

2 Your Pet airs every week on Daybreak Saturday.

Upcoming London Events Cater to Dog Lovers and Agricultural Enthusiasts

Visitors to nearby London, Ontario, will have two interesting events to check out over the weekend of Aug. 18-19, when Pawlooza and the Fanshawe Agricultural Fair create a fun festival atmosphere.

Pawlooza, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, is the quirkiest, whackiest and most ridiculously fun festival anywhere. Held on International Homeless Animals’ Day, it's a festival for dogs — 6,000 of them, in fact. And joining them will be approximately 25,000 animal lovers, 150 animal-related vendors, and 55 animal rescue and welfare groups from across Canada. It's the most dog-friendly event that you'll ever attend!
